Hopefully you can forgive me though. Coping with a new business in full swing and Luke at the same time has caused the ‘update-my-blog’ to-do item to get severely knocked down the priority list.

Well at least, here is a short post to let you know that I’ve uploaded some more photos of Luke, with a promise of more on the way (honest). These photos were just too cute not to share - we had a professional photographer take some photos just before his 2 month birthday. For some reason the photographer like to try out a variety of hats!

Luke’s first month

Luke was one month old on the 24th of May! So to celebrate here’s a few photos. Although I’ve been writing mainly about the ice cream parlour recently, Luke is never far away or anything less than the absolute focus of our attention (his strong lungs see to that!).

We’re already seeing a few changes in him; he’s getting heavier, longer and apparently starting to look more like me! (Karl). I can’t see it myself though. Anyway I hope everyone is doing well - thanks for all the emails, comments and messages. I’m sorry if I’ve not responded yet, but I kind of have my hands full.

Enjoy the photos.

Summer’s arrived

It’s been a long weekend over here (Canadians get a day off to celebrate Queen Victoria - funny eh?). And it’s been a sunny one. Great if you’re the proud owner of a new and shiny ice cream parlour (and café!).

I’m beginning to realise how instrinsic our success is to the weather. When it’s hot, we’re packed. I’m mean rammed - it’s great, particularly as we’ve not yet really hit the summer months. We’ll see how it goes when it’s 10 degrees outside and raining though - that was one of the reasons for adding coffee, cakes, sandwiches, etc,  - to counteract the seasonality of ice cream. I’ll let you know how it goes!

Our menu boards

The response to the new look has been amazing… people love it, and despite a few horrendous weather days, sales of the new products are doing well.

At the suggestion of Francois (my old boss when I worked in London), I’ve uploaded the menu boards - so you can see our ice cream and coffee offering. Allison made the ice creams and I took the photography and did the layouts… all on no sleep!!

cornets You’ll have to dust off your schoolboy /girl french to understand the menus… the photos should help.

See the fruits of our labour. Here’s the first shots of the finished ice cream parlour. (Ok, not 100% finished but you’d never tell).
